Remembering the man behind the Marshall Amp

The world of music mourned the man behind the world famous Marshall Amplifier when he passed away four years ago.

And now, every April 5, Jim Marshall is remembered by fans and music-makers the world over, at the annual Father of Loud Day.

Here in Milton Keynes - headquarters of the Marshall Amplification brand - Jim’s family and colleagues came together at the MK Rose in Campbell Park to pay tribute at the pillar bearing his name.

And how better to do it than with a guitar and an amp?

Chris George, Marshall’s product co-ordinator and demonstrator, delivered the riffs while the assembled enjoyed a period of not so quiet remembrance of the man they called The Guv’nor.

“吉姆的遗产继续在每个音箱声音响亮lifier that bears his name, and in the memories we all have of him,” said Jon Ellery, Marshall Amplification managing director.

“His contribution to the industry was immeasurable, and we are proud to recoginse his achievements every day.

“But the Father of Loud day lets us take things up a notch, which is what Jim would have wanted,” he added.
