Milton Keynes Trading Standards warn residents against fake Sainsbury's email scam
MK Trading Standards are urging people to watch out for fake emails from fraudsters pretending to be Sainsbury's.
Action Fraud has received over 500 reports about fake emails purporting to be from the supermarket chain.
The email claims the victim has been selected to participate in a gift card giveaway.

If a victim clicks the link within the email they are taken to a realistic looking phishing site designed to steal personal and financial information.
Action Fraud had the following message to reiterate, the post read: "Your bank, or any other official organisation wont ask for you to share personal information over email or text.
"If you need to check that it's a genuine message call them directly. Spotted a suspicious email? Forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service -[email protected]"

Trading Standards Milton Keynes also received a report yesterday regarding a fraudulent text from people purporting to be from HSBC. The fraud worked in the same way as the popular Sainsbury's scam, with the text encouraging victims to click on a link that leads to a phishing site.
