National Animal Welfare Trust’s Bedfordshire’s rehoming centre offers a lifeline to thousands of abandoned cats, dogs, rabbits and other animals.

But their facilities crumbling around them, and not fit for purpose for staff, volunteers or animals, their ongoing campaign to help raise new funds has a positive outcome.

Carley Farr, centre manager, said: “It is going really, really well. We’ve passed our halfway point with £235,000 out of the £400,000 target raised.Peoplelike our local community have been incredibly generous, and our Christmas appeal, called Double Donations, raised very nearly £50,000 for the centre which is incredible.”

”代表每个人,包括员工、意志eers and animals, we are so grateful for the support we have been given. It’s another step on the way to reaching our dreams to build a new rehoming centre this year.”

She said that receiving so many donations, coupled with grants and other fundraisers over the Christmas season by the local community and businesses, will help the charity build three new catteries, two new kennels, and allow for extras like isolation units. As well as the big fundraising events, she thanks everyone who has organised their own events, from bake sales to sponsored runs, all adding to the total.

Carley added: “We’ve another £165,000 to raise this year and have plenty more exciting fundraising events planned in 2023 too so if you’re interested in finding out more, please follow our social media pages.”

Buy a brick

The latest fundraising appeal is about offering the local community a chance to share in the moment by buying a commemorative brick.

Carly added: “This is where we can offer animal lovers the opportunity to be a permanent part of our history, with a brick of their own that will be on display at our rehoming centre for the lifetime of the new buildings.”

Each brick can be engraved with a message of your choosing. It might be a tribute to a loved one, a message of hope to the pets awaiting new homes, or a celebration of your own beloved pet. The decision is yours and your message will be set in stone as a reminder of the part you played in building a safe haven and a brighter future for animals who need it most.

The perfect gift

With Valentine’s and Mother’s Day not far on the horizon, this is a unique gift which provides a lasting memory for you and your loved ones.

Bricks will be installed once the building work is complete, which is planned for late 2023 and all brick owners will be invited to the grand opening, where you will be able to see your brick in situ.
